ABOUT US

Digging Deep for Myanmar is a charity that is committed to supporting the vulnerable and disadvantaged communities of Myanmar. We concentrate on the strengths of the community, not the weaknesses and are committed to building practical skills within the community to enable long-term self-sufficiency, not long-term dependency.

We have a deep affection for all people of Myanmar regardless of ethnic or religious background. Consequently, we have no religious or political affiliation.

When the group started in 2012, building toilets in Lintha Village near Ngapali Beach in Myanmar, we were mainly supported by family and friends. However, over time it has grown much larger, while we still build toilets, we have taken on other projects such as housing, health, hygiene and dental care training. Thankfully, our support base continues to grow, and our supporters come from far and wide, even overseas.

Please take some time to explore our website to learn more about how you can get involved and support the charity.

We are committed to ensuring that 100% of our public donations are spent on the ground.

This commitment is enabled by the generous support we receive from our corporate partners.

What do you get when you mix art with gin, delicious food and a group of awesome people? A great fundraiser for Digging Deep for Myanmar!

On Sunday some of the Digging Deep Committee held a fundraiser with support from Pinot & Picasso Hunter Valley and Unexpected Guest Gin and what an event it was! Thank you to all that attended and helped raise $1620 for Digging Deep. Big shout out to Pinot and Picasso Hunter Valley and Unexpected Guest Gin for generously giving their time and products. Well done Sonya and Graeme Chamberlain on a great event!

β€œI am used to seeing people living in poverty, however yesterday it brought tears to all our eyes, when we met an old lady living in such a broken-down house. There are many floorboards missing and you could see the sky through the thatched roof. She is very weak and thin, and sometimes her neighbours give her food, as she lives alone, and the only relative she has is a nephew, who comes occasionally and gives her a little money for food.”
These are the words of Sue Ozturk, the founder of the Andrew Clark Trust – our partner on the ground in Myanmar who helps ensure we can deliver food to families in need.
Thank you for your continued support. As you can see, your donations are going to people in real need of support. To make a donation, please visit: www.diggingdeep.org.au/donate-now/

Merry Christmas to you all.

We continue to support families in need with essential food supplies in the Lintha community and surrounding areas.
With travel restrictions remaining in place for the foreseeable future (and therefore little employment in the tourism industry), there will continue to be a need to support local families with food supplies.
At a time of year where many are celebrating Christmas, eating too many Christmas puddings and prawns, why not make a meaningful gift, by providing food for a family in Myanmar?
It costs $2 per day to feed a person in Myanmar. That's roughly $250 a month to feed a family of four.
If you would like to continue to support this worthy cause, please visit: www.diggingdeep.org.au/donate-now/
Here are some photos of some of the families we have been able to support, thanks to our donors.
